Fredericksburg Flood of 1942

Introduction

In 1942, the greater Fredericksburg area suffered a detrimental flood to the downtown area. While this event did not directly affect campus, the MWC Cavalry Troop was called to service to aid in evacuation and aid efforts to civilians who were affected. While the troop diligently worked clearing the streets, 200 other college students worked in church sites and canteens issuing first aid, and support to civilians who had already made it to adequate evacuation sites.(1) The sources below include news articles reporting on the flood, and a short documentary made by the Fredericksburg Area Museum presenting information about the disaster.
